My Best Friend's Wedding

This is the first weekend in a month that I wasn't traveling. I cannot complain about my traveling because they have all been to fun places with amazing friends, but a weekend of nothing to do was needed. Plus Chris was in town, so even better.

Let me catch you up on last weekend...

After a week of 2 tests (after Vegas this was extremely tough), I flew back to Washington Thursday night. The flight was uneventful and I was so tired that I immediately fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

Friday morning I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed. It was the weekend of Rebecca and Blair's wedding! My whole family was invited and I told them that I wanted to get there early because the rehearsal started at 3:45. We ended up leaving around noon and it was an Odyssey to get there. Here is a synopsis of my travel to Leavenworth where the wedding was taking place. My brother and sister drove separately, so it was my mom, dad, Chris and I in the car. 1st we had to stop and get a coffee (before we even left the city we live in). In Cle Elum (about half way) we had to get gas and a snack. Here is where the trouble started. My dad's car started to loose power as we were driving, right at the bottom of Blewett Pass. For those who do not know what Blewett Pass is, it is a two lane highway that gains 4,100feet. We had no cell service and I knew I had to get to the rehearsal, so I told (more like demanded) my dad to keep driving. We crept up the pass going 20 miles an hour. Finally we made it to the top (still no cell service), so my dad had to put his car in neutral and coast all the way down to the other side. When we reached the very bottom of the pass we finally had cell service. We called my brother to come pick me up and he rushed over and to take me to Sleeping Lady where we were staying and where the rehearsal was taking place. I was the first person there (in sweat pants), but I made it. The trip should have taken 2.5 hours max, it took us almost 4, but I was there early (kind of) just like I said I would be.

The wedding was amazing. I am so excited for Rebecca and Blair and I was so happy to be apart of their special day. Here are some pictures of Friday and Saturday night.

The entire weekend was spectacular. Leavenworth is such a fun town, the Sleeping Lady Resort is fabulous and there was so much love in the air (corny, sorry), I was seriously smiling the entire time I was there (expect right after the ceremony when I cried tears of joy).

Love you two!

Two Weeks of Debauchery

Okay that is a little bit of a lie. But I did have two bachelorette parties two weekends in a row. Let me tell you about my last few weeks and why I haven't posted in a while.

Although the 2 weeks of hell where I had 8 test was over, I still had multiple tests and projects the next week. Enough about that.

Friday June 15th, I flew home to Seattle to work in a Physical Therapy clinic for 2 weeks. The experience was amazing, but definitely exhausting. First of all I was scheduled for four ten hour days/week. Well, the days were definitely longer than that. I wouldn't have minded the extra hours except I had studying to do. But I learned a lot and it made me remember why I am torturing myself with school. I got to see what real patients look like and actually work on them (just a little).

The most exhausting (but fun) part of my two weeks home was my back to back bachelorette parties. The first bachelorette party was in Friday Harbor (San Juan Island) for Ms. Rebecca Mandell.
The Woman of the hour before heading out!
Elisa (Rebecca's sister/maid of honor) did an amazing job of organizing the perfect party for the bride.  We stayed at the cutest hotel right in downtown Friday Harbor: http://www.earthboxinn.com/ I highly suggest checking it out.
It included Karaoke
A bike ride
A trip to a winery
And of course, A little Penis paraphernalia
Hey, what is a bachelorette party without a little penis? The weekend was pretty much perfect. Great company, wonderful food and a hell of a good time. Plus, it was so perfectly Rebecca.

The next weekend was Nichole's bachelorette party in Vegas. I had an equally as amazing of time, but it was definitely completely different. Here are some (appropriate) pictures to show

Chillin by the pool

Now it is back to reality. I may have had a test today (Monday) and it may not have gone very well. But hey, my two weekends home were AMAZBALLS!

A Sprinkle of Fun

Well I am officially old. Monday was my 29th birthday. And how did I celebrate my birthday? In Disneyland!!!

My family and Chris flew down from Seattle to treat Shelly and I to a fantastic day at Disneyland. My mom, dad, Chris and Shelly all spent the night on Friday at my apartment. We drank wine and stayed up talking about who knows what. At 8am the next morning, Shelly and I woke everyone up to get the day started. We only had so many hours in the day and so many rides to ride that we wanted to make sure there was enough time.

Chris had never been to Disneyland before, so I prepared him a little. But once he got there, he was so excited.

We hit all the major rides:
Splash Mountain

Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion (which broke down on us while we were on it)

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
And Star Tours, which we rode right after eating a large dinner and a lot of candy. The ride was still fun, but my tummy didn't think so.
Our "space glasses" for Star Tours
I did get to eat a pickle and a churro. And let me tell you, if you have never eaten a pickle at Disneyland, you are missing out.
The day was absolutely amazing. We ALL had such a good time.

Monday June 4th (my actual birthday) was celebrated by taking a test. Yeah! Immediately followed by studying for another test that was on Wednesday. So not too much excitement there. But right after the test on Wednesday, a bunch of us went to an Angel's vs. Mariner's game at Angel's Stadium. Guess who won?

That's right, that is a margarita! Go Mariners!

And beer on a sunny summer day

The evening was wonderful. If only I didn't have class at 8am the next morning. Only one more week of classes (two assignments and a test) and then I am in Seattle for 2 weeks for my first clinical experience. I am really excited and nervous, but I can't wait to come home!

To Hell and Back

These past couple of weeks have been very stressful.

It started with a neurophysiology test that the entire class failed. And I mean failed. The class average was a D. Um...that is not acceptable in grad school and that is a fail on the teachers part. Obviously she didn't teach us anything (which she didn't), she tested us on stuff that was beyond our knowledge (which she did), and/or she asked poorly written questions (ditto). It made me laugh.

Memorial weekend was this past weekend and I spent it studying for our ortho practical. Lauren and I did have a guest stay with us...
Tigger!
Sasha stopped by as well
Kelsey stayed the weekend with us (a classmate) and brought her dog Tigger with her. Plus another friend stopped by with his dog. So it was definitely a doggy dog weekend.
Friday night started out with Lauren and I making one of our pizzas. It was delicious and a nice break from the madness.

Then the next 3 days were spent at school, not laying by the pool, in a cold and dark room. I think we all went a little bit crazy.

Tuesday was the practical and I have never been so nervous for a test in my life. The issue with the practical is that if you forget something or freeze up there is a proctor staring you down. The practical went well and I passed :)

Right after the practical was a quiz about HIPAA and liability for another class. Needless to say I didn't study for that class and we'll just have to wait and see how I did on that quiz.

We had Wednesday and Thursday to cram for our 3 tests on Friday. And here I am now, barely alive, clinging to some hope of happiness. Today was 3 tests back to back (from 9:30 to 2:30). Neuroanatomy lab quiz, MSPM (ortho) exam followed by a physical agents test. Why do our professors do this to us? But it is over and now the party can start. Chris and my parent's flew down for my birthday (Shelly's birthday as well) weekend and tomorrow we are going to DISNEYLAND!!!!! I can't wait. So at least I  get a reward for all of my hard work. I just hope I didn't fail anything.

Here is a little something to leave you with. On Saturday I went to lunch at a place called the Grinder. They serve sandwiches and have a large assortment of sodas. One of the sodas was Tru Blood. When I saw it I nearly jump. It is one of my favorite shows and books. I thought maybe if I pulled one out (it was hidden in the back) that Bill or Erik would show up. No vampire sightings.

Okay, off to do yoga to calm my nerves. Update on Disneyland soon.
